Just One Guy in One Truck - Gas Furnace and Air Conditioner Repair - Call/Text Tom at 208-691-6911

Air Conditioner

Central air conditioners have two separate components: the condenser and the evaporator. Most central air conditioners are connected to a home’s forced-air distribution system. Thus, the same motor, blower, and ductwork used for heating are used to distribute cool air from the air conditioning system. When a central air conditioner is operating, hot air inside the house flows to the furnace through the return-air duct. The hot air is moved by the blower across the cooled evaporator coil in the plenum and is then delivered through ducts to cool the house.

Natural gas and propane burn cleaner than fuel oil, and most gas furnaces present fewer operational difficulties than oil burners do. Gas furnaces and heaters have control shutoffs to prevent gas leaks, but they are not fail-safe. If you smell gas in your house, do not turn any lights on or off, and do not try to shut off the gas leading to the furnace. Get out of the house, leaving the door open, and immediately call the gas company or the fire department to report a leak. Do not re-enter your home.

Water Heaters

When our water heater is working properly, we use hot water for everything from showers to laundry, without a thought. But when it stops working, we have to detect the source of the problem and repair it. If there’s simply no hot water it could mean the pilot light’s gone out. Check the pilot light. If it’s out, you can relight it, by following the directions in your owner’s manual. If you hear strange noises coming from the hot water heater you’re probably hearing minerals or hard-water scale that’s accumulated inside the tank and broken off. You may want to call a professional for this job.

Heat Pumps

If you use your heat pump on a regular basis, you should change the filter about once a month. You could probably get away with only changing the filter once every three months if you only run the unit periodically. Keep fans and coils clean and free from debris, and have your heat pump inspected by a professional once every year or two.

Indoor Air Quality

Air quality is just as important as water and food quality. Air quality often goes unnoticed, however, because air is invisible. We need to take breathing as seriously as we do eating and exercising. We obsess over the solids and the liquids that go into our bodies. Now it is time to do the same for the gases.

Gas Fireplaces

Gas fireplaces provide a great source of heat and a cozy atmosphere during the cooler months of the year, but simply turning on the gas and lighting it up is not the extent of the responsibilities required. It is important to maintain gas fireplaces so they operate in an efficient and safe manner. Following a few tips will allow you to enjoy your fireplace and feel safe in your home.

I can repair, replace, and maintain most gas appliances including water heaters, furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, and freestanding gas stoves

Thank you so MUCH for fixing my friend's furnace! She said you remind her of her husband when he was a young HVAC guy and HAD to make everything right for a very reasonable rate! FB friends - this is your guy for furnaces and A/C install and repair

Service with Integrity I refer them to my customers for heating and air conditioning inspections on homes they are going to purchase or when my clients need a second opinion. They are always honest and once they come in for the second opinion the client won't go with anyone else. Customers for life is what they want to have and that is what they get!

Tom Morgan of My HVAC Guy rocks. I told him that both our gas fireplace & hotwater heater pilots were out & he said there was a high probability that our meter was frozen up. he came over @ 11pm to check it out, 1/2 thick ice on the meter. Sure enough, he was right. He double checked our valves & helped us get everything running again & we had gas flowing in 15 minutes from when he got here. Cathy

As a local Realtor, I often run into situations where HVAC inspecting and servicing is needed. I have used Tom, My HVAC Guy on several properties now. His professionalism and skill are unmatched, and he is very competitively priced. You will not regret your decision to patronize this excellent business!!

Chuck Ethridge

Tom is great! Thanks for all the help keeping us warm this winter. Really appreciate your time and knowledge.

Chris Moore

Thank you so much for repairing our furnace this week. You were quick, fair, & honest. We have programmed you in our phone & will definitely be calling you from now on!

Laurie Klug

He was very knowledgeable, reasonably priced, and thorough. Would recommend again.

He was super nice and very accommodating. He was very personable and knew what he was talking about, but didn't make me feel like I had no idea of what he was talking about. We are very pleased and will recommend to any one we know. Thank you again for coming out on a Sunday afternoon!

Of course the furnace went out on the week-end!! We had hired Tom before for furnace check-ups and minor repairs, so I got on the phone. He was here in no time and the problem turned out to be minor. The cost was reasonable and that is important to an older couple on a fixed income. We had been overcharged before and felt we may have paid for something we didn't need. Not with Tom. He cares about his customers and gives 100%.

Thank you to Tom Morgan, for coming at 7:30 this morning to fix my furnace! Great service! Great price!

My job is to inspect homes for folks who are looking to purchase them. My livelihood depends upon how well I do my job, and how well the tradespeople I refer do theirs. It's been proven time and again that Tom (with a helpful occasional boot from Jamie!) looks out for my clients' best interests. He will replace a part rather than upsell a client to a whole new system, whenever possible. This flies in the face of Big Corporation USA schooling of milking the most out of a potential customer. Tom has also bent his schedule to work with me to accommodate a visiting out-of-town buyer, providing a complete system inspection, analysis and report to the client, on the spot. Tom's the only HVAC guy I refer; my reputation hinges upon his performance for my clients!

My wife and I were awakened in the night to a strange sound coming from our furnace followed by our room being filled with smoke! After doing a quick web search, I found Tom Morgan and immediately gave him a call. It was after 10pm on a weeknight so I expected to be leaving a message for someone to call back in the morning. To my surprise, Tom answered the phone after only a ring or two and was able to put our minds at ease by explaining the likely cause of our problem. Tom arranged to come out early the next morning and was able to diagnose and fix the problem very expeditiously and at a reasonable cost. Based upon this experience, I would recommend Tom and his services to anyone. It's obvious he cares about his customers and the quality of his work.

HVAC repairman saved the day! waking up to a cold house is concerning, but after talking with tom over the phone my frustrations were calmed instantly! He came right over on a Sunday morning, and explained everything that he was doing. Upon the routine inspection it seemed as though the board was shot, and the replacement would be around 400 dollars! This is were most techs would have left it. Since he has been doing this for so long he knew that this was not a common issue, and wanted to take his diagnosis a little further. Turned out to be a small thermostat issue, that he explained to me how to fix it myself. It's very hard to find a company with great customer service, and even harder to find customer service and a good price! The little lady is happy, the house is warm, and you have a customer for life! thanks Tom

We were charged $250 by another local company to be told our heat pump was broken. They said labor would be $750 + $1,200 or more for the compressor, and said we should buy a whole new unit for $3-10,000, which was definitely not in the budget. We called Tom and he came out the next workday, did tests the other company... did not do, and quoted us a price almost half of what the other company did. He also asked OUR plans, and said unless we were going to be in the house another 10 years, which we aren't, we wouldn't get our money out of a new unit. Long story short, he installed the new compressor this morning, tested it, and my house is considerably cooler tonight. He was fast, professional, and the unit runs quieter now than when it was new. THANK YOU!!

During one of our wonderful cold spells this winter, our furnace decided to start acting up on us Saturday night. When we woke up Sunday morning and the temp inside the house was in the low 50's, I gave Tom a call. Tom came out and checked out our furnace. The great thing was that the only problem was some of the tubing left by the furnace installers was too long and that created a water plug in the line that caused the furnace to go on the fritz. Tom shortened up the lines and got the furnace running again in no time without trying to pad his own wallet by making recommendations or repairs that were not need. From now on, Tom is the only person that I will call for my HVAC needs and is the only person that I recommend to others.

Fast service, fair prices Earlier this summer our heat pump quit working. We called a Spokane firm, who after 2 visits and $250 told us our condensor was bad. They said a new condensor would be $2-3000, so we should get a new, more efficient heat pump for $10-$15,0000. We didn't have an extra $10-15000 lying around. My husband spoke to his brother-in-law in Tennessee, who asked if the company had done a specific test on the compressor. He said if they didn't do that first, they may have shorted it out. Fortunately, we called Tom, the HVAC guy, for a 2nd opinion. The first thing he did was the test the other guys should have done. The compressor was bad. He asked how long we planned to stay in our house. We told him 2 years - he said the payback on a new heat pump would be 10 years, and we would be better off repairing what we had. He ordered the parts and had us fixed in a few days, for SUBSTANTIALLY less than the other firm. Obviously Tom's clients mean more to him than selling new systems. I will look only to The HVAC guy for all my future heating and cooling needs.

On one of the coldest day's last month my furnace decided not to work. It was 12 degrees outside at 6:45am. I called Tom and had a call back within 15 minutes. He put me as a priority on his list due to the nature of my problem and was at my doorstep by 8:30 tools in hand. My furnace needed a new switch, was up and running in no time. Great service and someone who truly cares!! Thanks Tom!!!

Tom really provides a personalized touch to his work, my 100 yr plus old house needed a lot of adjustments to have the heating/cooling system work and he figured it out in a snap and had it all done in just a day! Now it runs effectively and best of all efficiently. I still can't believe the difference in my Avista bill....It's a comfort to know that if I ever have an emergency, I can call and he'd be right out to fix any problem, too. I highly recommend Tom's services.

This chilly morning I awoke to find my gas furnace blowing cold air and the temperature was dropping. I remembered the excellent work Tom Morgan did cleaning and repairing my air conditioner a few years ago, so he was the first and only person I called today. He promptly answered his phone and came over in a timely manner to provide diagnostics, cleaning, and repair of my furnace. I find Tom to be trustworthy, fair, ethical, personable, friendly, and technically and mechanically skillful. Thanks Tom. You're my HVAC guy! Judy Hagan, North Idaho Hypnotherapy; Post Falls
